Previously published image from the Pan American Exposition of 1901. This is an exceptionally rare, original, unmounted image. Left to right: The tall man in wide cowboy hat in front row is believed to be Charles "Frank" Hafley, former sheriff of Tulare County and husband and manager of Lilian Smith. Next to him is Lilian Smith dressed as her created character Princess Wenona (she then claimed to be a pure blooded Indian but did not have a drop of Indian blood in her veins). Standing on her left is Apache Indian Sub Chief Geronimo. To his left and slightly behind him (wearing black top hat) is Col. Fred Cummins, creator of the Wild West and Indian Congress (a Wild West Show and promoter of Smith). To his left, in front row, the man with the white moustache is General Nelson Miles. To Miles' left is a Sioux Chief named Rocky Bear. It is believed that the photograph was taken to commemorate General Nelson Miles' winning of Geronimo's surrender in 1886.
