Believed to be the only photograph extant of William Mitchell (AKA:  Baldy Russell), 1853-1928.     He was involved in a feud with the Truitt family who had raided the Mitchell ranch in 1874 in Texas.   He then raided the Truitt ranch with a friend and killed three of the Truitts.  Mitchell ran and later his father was hanged by vigilantes for the Truitt killings.     A year later, Mitchell came back and killed James Truitt, the rival gang's last member.   Mitchell then became an outlaw (using the name Baldy Russell) and robbed stagecoaches and banks.    He was arrested in 1912 and sentenced to life in prison for the Truitt murders.     He escaped and lived in hiding until he died in 1928.     This image is personally signed by Mitchell in Waco, Texas.
