Lynching of two "half breed" Chippewa Indians in Brainerd, Minnesota on July 23, 1872 for the kidnapping and murder of Helen McArthur, a young white woman. The men had been arrested and they were being tried for her murder but an angry crowd got frustrated by an adjournment and lynched the two men. See crowinghistory.org.
