Not a lot is recorded about this half breed guide. This image was taken circa 1865 by A.G. Emery. Lapete was a United States Civil War and after Ojibway guide. He was the brother-in-law of Chief Kawbawgam. His white half was French Canadian and Irish. Photograph was taken in Marquette, Michigan by A.G. Emery. He holds what looks like a hammer shotgun.
