CDV of John Baker Omohundro, Texas Jack. He was an American scout, actor and cowboy. He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War and was later a sout during the Indian wars. He is mainly known for his part in a theatre group in the early 1870s with Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill Cody, Ned Buntline, and others in a play named " Scouts of the Plains". After that broke up he spent the rest of his life primarily as an actor with his wife Giuseppina Morlacchi (Omohundro). She was from Milan, Italy and started out as a dancer. They had a famous loving marriage. In 1877, Jack formed his own acting troup. known as the Texas Jack Combination. In the Spring of 1880, the Omohundros traveled to Leadville, Colorado. a few months after they arrived, Jack caught a cold which turned into pneumonia and he died a few weeks later. After the funeral in Leadville, Morlacchi went back to their home in Lowell, Massachusetts. She never toured again or went back to the stage. Texas Jack was 39 years old.
