This seated man has the look of a Cowboy but I do not think he is. There were no cowboys in New York except with Wild West Shows. I do not think he is a Wild West Show Cowboy either. I think he is simply a well armed hunter. He holds a single shot rifle and wears a Colt in a holster on his left side. The cartridges in the cartridge belt are rifle cartridges; probably for the rifle he holds. Nice image though.
