Sidney Edgerton was the First Governor of Montana Territory between 1864-1866. He was appointed by President Lincoln. He was also a founding member of the Montana Vigilantes in Virginia City, M.T. and Bannack (the capitol at that time), M.T. He died in 1900. This photo was taken on August 17, 1890 (age 71) by Snook Studio in Akron, Ohio (where he was from and had served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1859-1863.).
