A large, Superior sized, cabinet photograph of Curley, General Custers Scout. His Indian name was Ashishishe. He was a Crow Indian Scout in the Sioux wars. He is best known for having been one of the very few who survived the battle of Little Bighorn in 1876. He did NOT fight in the battle. He watched from a distance. He was the first man to report Custer's total defeat. After this he became quite a famous celebrity and was photographed often. This is a particularly handsome image of him. He also served on the Crow reservation as an Indian Policeman. He received a U.S. military service pension in 1920. He died of pneumonia in 1923.
