CDV sized cabinet photograph in the 1880-1890 period. He has been taken in a very dry area close to some sort of town. Could literally be anywhere but as it looks like desert, I would think South West United States. There is no identification of any kind: no location, photographer's mark or identification of the cowboy. The main center of interest here is that he is definitely riding a MULE, not a horse. He is dressed in white shirt, bandanna, and high top cowboy boot. He wears a Colt SAA in a holster on HIS right side.
