Black Jack Ketchum started out as a cowboy but later became an outlaw.  He was a Texan born in San Saba County. His real name was Tom Ketchum. By 1892, he and his brother and their small gang had already robber a train in New Mexico. Outlaws like Will Carver and Harvey "Kid Curry" Logan were members of his gang. In 1896, he joined the Hole in the Wall Gang robbing trains. He was arrested for attempted train robbery in 1899, wounded, recovered and sent to Clayton, New Mexico Territory for trial. He was convicted and sentenced to death. He was hanged on April 26, 1901 in Clayton. The rope was to long and Tom's weight to much and it ripped his head off his body.  Much more of his history can be read on the internet. This is NOT a post card image.  It is an original period print from the original negative. It was one time on a card mount.  Pieces of the original card can still be seen on the back.
