As this photograph was taken by a R.I. photographer named Wm Mills and Son, I think it must be a theater or Western Show Cowboy. There were NO cowboys in R.I. However, he is decked out like a Texas Ranger type with a lasso, white shirt, tie, wool pants, cartridge belt with Double loop holster and Colt SAA. He is wearing high top western made boots and probably a Stetson hat. The background is staged. All in all, it is a fine looking western man.
