This is one of my favorite photographs of the genre. I think it is one of the finest Montana photographs extant. The image is by James Ollason, Missoula, Montana. Two cowboys sit in the forefront. The man on the left wears a holstered double action Colt in a double loop holster and holds a military style Spencer rifle. He has the typical shotgun chaps and cowboy hat. The younger cowboy on the right holds a Winchester rifle. Behind them are three Indian women and an Indian child. The child holds Mama's hat. It was taken in the studio. It just has it all and is very well photographed. It dates late 1880s-1890s.
