Studio cabinet card of a New Mexico westerner/cowboy in the 1890 period. New Mexico images such as this are rare as the population was small. He is dressed in a FINE, expensive, buckskin jacket with long fringe. He wears a Colt frontier revolver in a Triple loop holster and has a bowie knife on his belt on the other side. He also wears a rather moderate western hat. On his feet are beaded Indian moccasins (nice touch!). He is holding what I think is a Burgess rifle. The photograph was taken by Wittick & Son (Ben Wittick took many famous Apache Indian views in the 1880s), Albuquerque, N.M.
