This photograph was taken in Clay Center, Kansas by C. Holzgang a short few weeks before Jesse moved to St. Joseph, Missouri and was murdered by Bob Ford in April, 1882. It is of Jesse W. James with his daughter Mary Susan on his lap. Jesse, Zee, and the children were visiting his mother's family, THE COLES as they lived there. This photograph was documented by the COLE FAMILY in 2009 when they sold it through their attorney to collector/dealer Rick Mack who later sold it to me. IT IS UNQUESTIONABLY JESSE AND SUSAN JAMES!
