Thank god everyone has different ideas of what turns them on as collectors. I saw this at auction and I was determined to have it! It is candid and one of a kind. Taken for the family. It is the Alan H. Parmer cattle ranch in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1889. I have never seen or heard of another. It came out of the Frank James collection and was sold by his son Robert probably in the 1940s. Robert sold off a lot of things in that period as he was indifferent to work (I have been told) and needed money to live on the farm. At any rate, the man on the horse at left is Alan Parmer, brother in law of Jesse and Frank James and husband of their sister Susan. Susan is standing on the far right in front of the house. The others are his children. The man standing on the far left is a ranch worker. Photo is marked by Otto Lorenz, Wichita Falls (Texas). It is dated 1889. This ranch and the house are Long Gone. I am a Texan. I know Wichita well. The image is special to me.
