Written on the back of this cabinet photo is the following interesting history: "Harvey Groves, preparing to mount TEXAS, the 17 year old outlaw horse from the Snake River Plains in Idaho, the wildest horse that was ever captured on the western plains. This horse was won by Harvey Groves at the Exposition Park, Kansas City, Mo., Sept. 1, 1900". You can see one man holding Texas while Harvey prepares to get into the saddle. Wonder what kind of a ride ole Harvey had? I bet he wasn't on him long! Great story.
