Two Apache Indian Scouts

Albumen cabinet photograph of two circa 1885 Apache Indian Scouts.  There is no photographer's mark but it does identify the place as the San Carlos Reservation in Arizona. The seated Scout is a Sargent and holds his issued rifle. The other man is in civilian clothing. It is a known image. I believe this one is a contemporary  copy of the original (some say a pirate). I do not care. Photographers copying other's photographs in the same period was COMMON.  To me, it ranks as a contemporary original. However, collectors today need to use extreme care as there are many good fakes out there. If in doubt, pass or ask a more experienced collector for aid.
