This is the most famous photograph of Pawnee Bill and May Lillie of all. It has been published endlessly. May lays her head on Bill's shoulder in this circa 1886-1888 image of the two. In this historic period, it was very unusual for a couple to display loving emotion in any photograph. This is the exception. They were married for 50 years and were devoted to each other.
