This image was taken by Oppenheim, 23 Tremont St., Boston, Mass. It is totally staged. I assume these two young Yankee boys wanted to be photographed as trapper and Indian to possibly impress a couple of young ladies? The Indian dress is heavily beaded and Eastern Indian tribal. The "trapper" looks more theater than mountain man. However, these images are well worth having. They show authentic costumes of the period used by the photographers so, in their own way, they glimpse the past.
