Red Eagle was a Carmel Choctaw Indian. He did roping exhibitions on the West Coast He was a tribal Chieftain and it is said he was adopted by Buffalo Bill Cody. His white man's name was Henry Perley. He became a actor, entertainer, guide, and author during his life time. He worked for both Buffalo Bill and Barnum and Bailey Circus. He acted in silent films with Mary Pickford the Gish sisters, and Valentino. This is a very early photograph of him in CDV. He was still a teenager when this was taken. It is a very rare image of him when he first started out.
