Frederick Tecumseh Waite was a cowboy who worked for John Tunstall in Lincoln County, New Mexico in the 1870's.  After Tunstall was murdered in 1878, Waite joined his friend, William Bonney's (Billy the Kid) gang called the  "Rugulators" .  He was with the posse who went after Tunstall's killers along with Dick Brewer. Wait was known to have been present when when Billy killed Sheriff William Brady in Lincoln. He was also there when the gang killed Buckshot Roberts a suspect in the Tunstall murder.  About 1880 the gang split up and Waite went to Indian Territory where he married Mary E. Thompson on December 1, 1881. He then moved to the Chickasaw Nation. He was part Chickasaw himself. He became a Chickasaw legislator, Senator, and Speaker of the Chickasaw House. Finally, he became Chickasaw Attorney General.   He died at age 42. THIS photograph came directly from the Fred Wait ESTATE.
