Unmounted sepia photograph with Extra Finish gloss of Outlaw John Sontag in the hole. He is surrounded by the Posse who got him for train robberies. The man fourth from the left is the Visalia Sheriff. He was shot to pieces but survived and moved to Fresno, California. He died soon after of his wounds or tetanus as a result of the wounds. This was in 1893 after a few years as a successful California train robber with his partner Chris Evans.
