This image is a very faded and somewhat dark 1880s albumen. I usually scan my images at 300 DPI but I have scanned this one at 1200 DPI in order to get as much details as possible. Early, western images of small Wild West or Medicine Shows are almost impossible to find. I wanted to show the public as much as possible what they looked like. Pawnee Bill and Buffalo Bill shows were large, expansive shows with many employees. However, several of these smaller shows traveled the country like small circus shows did later. The auction house IDed the tall man on the right as Buffalo Bill Cody. The ID on the back is Wild Bill Hickok. He looks more like Hickok than Cody but is neither. I have no idea who he is. The man on the far left on the white horse with the rifle may be Alejandro Joe ( a small time show personality) but I am not sure. The tall man holds a donkey. The horseman on the far right is an Indian with a horned headdress. The tent in back of him is marked "OFFICE". There are other civilian men that were probably local officials or promoters/managers. Lots of banners and signs but I am unable to read them. It is still a fascinating photograph of a rare subject matter.
