William Dickinson came to Montana Territory in 1868.    He taught school, mined and took photographs.  He was appointed Postmaster in Missoula in 1872.   He served in that as well as a merchant, school clerk, and superintendent of schools.   His wife taught in the first Missoula public school building in 1868.   He died in 1910.
