Early cabinet photograph of General George Custer when he was on a hunting trip with the Grand Duke of Russia. Typically he is dressed in buckskins to the nines , with his rifle, and in a dramatic pose. It is a well known image of him. I personally detest the man historically. He was a pompous ass, and a peacock. He led his men into a battle they could not possibly win and caused himself and his men to be slaughtered at the Little Big Horn. In my opinion, if he had survived, he would have been court marshaled and shot.
