There are many photographs of Old Seth Kinman and I personally have several in my collection. He is dressed in full mountain man fringed buckskins and percussion gun. He was quite a character. He was a hunter, mountain man, chair maker, entertainer, bear hater, and (vocally) Indian hater. He lived in California . He also worked as an in keeper, saloon keeper, and a fiddle player. He made a horn chair for President Lincoln and went to the White House to play the fiddle for him. He was at Lincoln's funeral. He also made chairs for James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, and Rutherford Hayes. He dictated his autobiography to a ghost writer in 1876 and it was first published in 2010. It was entertaining but probably mostly BS.
