This is a previously unpublished tintype of Clay Allison about 16 years old. It was about the time he entered the Civil War. It came with several other Allison artifacts once in the collection of a Hollywood Producer via the Allison family in the 1930s-1940s.
When I was a child my family were close friends of the Parker family in Fort Worth. Mrs. Parker was a direct Allison family member. Clay's portrait used to hang above their fireplace. He was a cattle rancher, cattle broker, and gun fighter in the old west. He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. There are a lot of wild and derring do stories about him you can read on the internet. Some true, some not. He fell off his wagon on July 3, 1887, and was killed. He was 45 years old.
