ABOUT ME:
I would like to thank my son, Andrei Cantey for making this site and the last possible. Secondly, I want to thank two close personal friends who have helped me find so many wonderful things over the years;
Tim Gordon ( the finest dealer and appraiser in Montana and a life long, loyal friend) and Edward Demmel ( the finest and luckiest Antique picker I have ever known).
Please note: NOTHING on this site is for sale or trade. Period. Also, I neither accept nor answer ANY negative emails. No negativity or criticism. If you disagree with me, fine. Save it for all those chat sessions on line who specialize in that kind of nay sayer. It bores me to death.
I am always open, however, to offers of new images to buy. However, I know all of the scams and fakes so don't waste your time offering phoney items.
Look, read, enjoy and, maybe, learn something about the old west from these images of it. That is my goal here. No charge! Look for my article on collecting soon in the articles section. Thanks and God Bless.
I leave you with a quote from one of the greatest Americans that ever lived, John Wayne. It is a quote that I 100% agree with and have also tried to live by.
"I have tried to live my life so that my family would love me and my friends respect me. The others can do whatever the hell they please."
--John Wayne

This site is dedicated to American history, public entertainment, enjoyment, and education. It is completely NON political in any way. It supports the United States of America, its Constitution, its citizens, and Democracy. It is a private website, owned by one person. It does not represent anyone else or any other companies, organizations, or institutions.
" My hope and prayer is that everyone know and love our country for what she really is and what she stands for" --- John Wayne
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY CANTEY COLLECTION WEBSITE!
There comes a time when knowledge should be shared. I am not going to waste any more time on holding back. It is on this site that I will share our history through my discoveries of some of the photographic images that depict it. I have always been a shy collector and have never had any desire to spread my name around or, for that matter, hype my collection to others. I am not an Icon or a Gold Standard and have never wanted to be but I have the years of experience needed. I have published some over the years but on a limited basis. To date, only possibly 4-5 people have seen what I will place on this site in the future. My hope is that, in sharing here, many people will get to enjoy what I have been able to put together over more than 50 years. Also, maybe catch a glimpse of our past so that we may preserve it. Preserving it, good and bad, is worth so much more than the narrow sensibilities of the few or those who wish to change it by ignoring the past, or worse, tearing it down and destroying our history for their own, narrow goals. These images are a small part of America but a fascinating part of what our country, our America, was and what we went through to become what we are and to expand and grow, to feel good about who we are and where we came from. Please look and enjoy! I want you to have fun as I have over all of my adult life.
The truth is like a lion-you do not have to defend it-you just let it out of the cage and it will defend itself.
Edward Demmel, Shreveport, Louisiana
PLEASE NOTE: All of my collection posted here bears my collection watermark. It does not imply that I own copyright on them all. It implies that I wish to protect my copies from being STOLEN off my site and then SOLD on various internet sites and auction houses as their copies in order to make money on something they got free. It is a common practice today. I cannot keep these from being reproduced but only protect the copies that I OWN.
Look for my article on collecting soon in the article section above. Come back often!
DEDICATION:
I am dedicating this website to my great friend, W. T. BAILEY of Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away in 2015 in his mid 50s. Tom had one of the definitive American Indian and Western collections in the United States which included hundreds of images. He was a wealth of knowledge and a gentleman. We often agreed that our image collections were the central element. We spent years sharing what we had and pursuing new things. My wife, son, and I miss him dearly. RIP Tom.
