Beautiful cabinet photograph of Mary Emma "May" Manning Lilly. She was married to Pawnee Bill Lillie. Born in 1869, she married Pawnee Bill Lillie in 1887. She was 18 years old. She was born in Philadelphia. This image of her was taken circa 1887 by Koester and Sievers in NY when she was first married (or even just prior to marriage).. I have other images of May in civilian clothing from this period to her death but this seems to be the earliest image of her as a pretty, "civilian" girl, not yet dressed in her Wild West Show clothing. She is even bare footed. It is a charming and rare photograph.
