In 1862, Frank H. Woody was a partner of Granville Stuart, Stuart's brother James, and a man named Anderson.  Woody and James Stuart operated a grocery store at the Gold Creek diggings near Grasshopper Creek, in Missoula County, M.T.   After that the two men moved to Bannack because of the gold rush there.     In late September, 1862 Granville Stuart and Woody went to Hell gate from Gold Creek to help organize the government in Missoula County.   In July, 1862 , Frank Woody was elected the auditor of the government in Missoula County.   In 1873 Woody and a man named Chisholm bought the local Missoula Newspaper and renamed it the Missoulian.   In 1884, Frank Woody and many others got together to create the Society of Montana Pioneers and Wood helped write their constitution.  The Society started with 250 members.   This photograph is a CDV and dates in the 1860's.     There is no photographer's mark.
