I was unable, in my scanner, to get all of the hand written description on the front so it is: "A View of Virginia City. Alder Gulch. Montana Territory. in Nov. 1864. Looking N.E.". This is undoubtedly one of the finest Birds Eye Views of Virginia City ever taken and collected. I have had it since the 1970's or early 1980's. It is by a masterful photographer at the time (unmarked) and shows beautiful, clear, crisp details. One of my favorite photographs in my collection by far and acquired for me by my old friend Tim Gordon in Missoula, Montana, the premier appraiser in the state. These are virtually non existent now to collectors and very value.
