Large, 1880's, albumen cabinet photograph by W. J. Carpenter, Fort Lewis, Colorado. The two Chiefs were photographed in the Studio behind a fabricated bush. The man on the left holds a Burgess rifle while the man on the right holds a 1873 Winchester rifle. In my opinion, it is rare to see any photograph of early, armed Navajo Indians.
