This is a mug shot photograph of C.E. Dimmitt. It is fully identified by the police on the back including Crime as "Train Robbery". Fed 22, 1898. Photograph taken in Kansas City, Mo. C. E. Dimmitt and Jesse Edwards James(son of Jesse W. James) were accused of robbing a train in 1898. In court, Dimmitt, who did know Jesse Edward James testified that Jesse Edwards was NOT with him in the robbery. Jesse was acquitted and Dimmitt went to prison. To my knowledge, this is the only original photograph of Dimmitt extant.
