This lynching of four black men was done on August 1, 1908. Notes say the four were hanged simultaneously in Logan County, Kentucky. Their names were Joseph Riley and Virgil, Robert, and Thomas Jones. The only reason they were lynched is that they were overheard expressing approval of another black man who shot a white man. 100 men took them from the jail and lynched them "as a warning to other blacks". It was an earth shaking evil act.
