Heck Thomas became a U.S. Deputy Marsha in 1889 with Chris Madsen and Bill Tilghman. He and the other two were Marshals in the Oklahoma Territory. He was involved with the defeat of the Wild Bunch and the Doolin gang. He himself killed Bill Doolin on July 5, 1896. In August, 1896, he became first Chief of Police of Lawton, O.T. He died in 1912 in Lawton, Oklahoma at age 62.
